Mike Mortimer is Program Manager, Construction Standards, Built Environment Group at the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). He joined CSA in July 1999. Mike and his staff support approximately 1,000 volunteer experts and more than 300 standards.
Mike’s areas of interest include: adapting built civil infrastructure works (buildings, transportation, energy and water), to the impacts of climate change, infrastructure performance and efficiency, security of built infrastructure, and infrastructure lifecycle issues.
In 1982, Mike started his career as a process engineer with Honeywell Canada. Subsequently, he held positions in product management, sales, product development and marketing. In 1998/99, he was editor of, ‘Heating Plumbing Air Conditioning Magazine’, a Canadian trade publication that serves the housing, buildings and mechanical contracting sector.
Mike is licensed as a Professional Engineer (PEO, 1984) and a Project Management Professional (PMI, 2000). He graduated from McMaster University, and holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree (1982).
CSA’s Construction Standards Program works with industry, government and academia to develop standardized solutions to safety, quality, performance, environmental stewardship, climate change adaptation responses, and competitiveness in the areas of buildings and built civil infrastructure works.
Canadian Standards Association publishes more than 2,600 standards and has 9,000 members. CSA is an operating division of CSA Group.
