The affairs of the Association are managed by Council and the Chief Executive Officer, supplemented by standing boards and committees, and ad hoc committees and task forces which may be established by Council from time to time. Five groups - Board of Examiners, Practice Review Board, Investigative Committee, Discipline Committee and Appeal Board - are established by the The Engineering and Geoscience Professions Act of Alberta. The Enforcement Review Committee is established under the Regulations. Over 20 other boards and standing committees are active, with terms of reference determined by Council. In addition, APEGA is represented on a number of outside organizations and groups. The Joint Board of Practice, composed of representatives of APEGA and the Alberta Association of Architects, is established under the Government Organization Act. The APEGA/ASET Joint Registration Board and the APEGA/ASET Joint Appeal Board are set up under the Regulations pursuant to the EGP Act. The Chief Executive Officer is a voting member of the Executive Committee and an ex-officio member of all boards, committees and task forces. Ten branches of the Association exist: Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Peace Region, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Central Alberta, Yellowhead, Lakeland (in the Cold Lake area) and Vermilion River (Lloydminster area). Each branch has a chair and executive who are elected annually by the branch membership. The branches have their own constitutions and bylaws. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To contact a committee or to view its terms of reference and committee membership select the committee using the drop down menu.
