Pool B was established when the need was identified for some locally educated grads and some internationally educated grads who were not employed and who needed mentoring assistance. Their specific needs were in the area of employment-related soft skills such as interviewing techniques, resume writing, networking techniques and writing letters of application. It is important for these potential protégés to make note that the mentoring program is not a “job-finding” service but rather the sharing of expertise and coaching from a more experienced APEGA member to a less experienced member.
Benefits for Protégés in Pool B:
To enhance work-related soft skills to assist with the areas that make protégés more marketable in the work place environment.
To benefit from an experienced coach, advisor, role model, information provider and advocate.
To gain the advice of an experienced mentor about how businesses operate in Canada.
To benefit from a mentor as a resource in regard to relevant seminars in interviewing, networking, etc.
The benefit of sharing ideas and gaining confidence to enter the workplace.
