Continuing Series: What’s In It For Me?
The APEGGA Mentoring Program
What is mentoring? And why is it important to your career and your company?
Those are questions we can answer in the mentoring section of our website.
Designed to transfer work-related soft skills from more experienced members to less experienced members, the APEGGA Mentoring Program has a proven track record.
Matching is a formal process with a coordinator creating pairs based on completed self-assessment forms. We provide training and coaching with an emphasis on written goals and objectives. These are the keys to our program’s effectiveness.

The Science of Big Waves
The geoscience community will once more strut its stuff for the general public (yes, engineers are welcome) on Oct. 28 at the Calgary Jubilee Auditorium.
This year the star attraction will be water and how to use it for fun when it goes vertical. Entitled The Science of Big Waves, the CSPG Honorary Address (co-sponsored by CSEG and APEGGA) will be presented by a team consisting of surfing guru Jeff Clark and sedimentology/mountain biking guru Dr. Stephen Hubbard. Jeff will tell everyone how to have fun with big waves and Dr. Hubbard will talk about the significance of big waves to the sedimentary record.
There will be two presentations – a daytime edition for junior high school students and an evening version for the general public. Lobby exhibits for the evening presentation will include one from APEGGA.
More information is available at the CSPG website.
