Students at the University of Alberta in every engineering discipline are embarking on yet another year-end. Along come April Showers, bringing final examinations and flowers close behind.

For some students these are the final days they will spend in their undergraduate degree program. After this they’ll travel to careers in the field or graduate school. Some will make their way to faraway places.

For others, this marks their entrance into the University of Alberta Faculty of Engineering. With their first year down, they’ll now select a specification and focus on their true interests.

Finally, for the rest, April brings the end of the academic term, and the start of spring and summer. This means jobs and travel, experience and adventure, research – and even more studying, for some.

Past Events
The results of the recent Engineering Students’ Society elections of a new executive are in.

Congratulations to the 2007-2008 executive:

President – Graeme Wicentowich, Stephen McFetridge and Lubomyra Zorniak
Vice-President, External – Mark Hlady
Vice-President, Finance and Operations – Alexis Kaminski
Vice-President, Student Services – Daryl Tran.

From March 12 to 16, students and faculty took part in the ESS Pi Throw. Supporters bought pies to be sent to friends or colleagues, who were in turn pied in the face. It was quite an exciting fundraiser for the ESS. In addition to helping out the society, it raised our spirits and built camaraderie, which are both needed as finals approach.

Upcoming Events
On the last days of classes each engineering discipline gets a chance to field questions and introduce students to the program. First Year Information Nights are a great opportunity for students to make informed choices of their fields of interest.

Spring and summer are very slow for the students’ society. Most of the time is spent on the transition to a new board, orienting executive members to their new roles. ESS also devotes time to preparing for the coming year.

On behalf the entire Engineering Students’ Society, thank you so much for the continued interest in the ESS at the University of Alberta.
