SAIT Awards Honorary Degree To Former MP

 

APEGGA Honorary Member Arthur Smith has received an honorary bachelor of applied technology degree from SAIT. The degree was given in recognition of his contribution to the economic and social well-being of Canadians and to celebrate his contribution to technical education in Alberta.

Mr. Smith is a former Calgary alderman, MLA and member of Parliament. He was the co-chairman of the Calgary and Alberta Economic Development Authorities, chairman and CEO of SNC Partec Inc. and Lavalin Services Inc., president of a regional airline, CEO of a southeast Asian development company and vice-president of a national advertising firm.

He currently chairs the University of Calgary Centre for Innovative Technology, and the Centre for Military and Strategic Studies.
