APEGGA Receives International Honours For Communications

The APEGGA Communications Department has received one platinum and two gold Hermes Creative Awards. Winners were announced in April, after more than 37,000 submissions were received in the international competition.

The department is led by Philip Mulder, APR, Manager, Communications.

The platinum award winner is the 2009 APEGGA Science Olympics — Calgary Communications Plan. The two golds are for the 2009 APEGGA National Engineering & Geoscience Week Communications Plan and the 2007 Outdoor Advertising Campaign — Proudly brought to you by Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience. The images of a water glass, a compact fluorescent light bulb and a fuel pump nozzle have been seen on billboards around Calgary and Edmonton, and on posters in both cities’ international airports.

The 2007 “Proudly brought to you by…” print ad campaign, and a series of geoscience compliance print ads, both received honourable mentions.

Mr. Mulder, together with past and present team members, as well as Calgary-based Stratus Marketing for the outdoor ad campaign, have “worked hard to provide high-quality communications and public relations services to the Association and its members, and to raise the public profile of the professions and the designations,” says a news release.

The prestigious platinum award goes to entries judged to be “among the most outstanding entries in the competition.” Platinum winners are recognized for their excellence in quality, creativity and resourcefulness.

The gold award is presented to entries judged to “exceed the high standards of the industry norm.”
