New Office Manager Hired in Calgary

KATE HANDFORD

After 17 years a torch has been passed in the APEGGA Calgary office. Kate Handford has taken on the office manager job after the departure of Marie Locke, last month.

Ms. Handford, an experienced office manager, is excited to be taking on this position. “I am honoured and very proud to be working for such a renowned and professional organization,” said Ms. Handford.

“I am looking forward to following in Marie’s footsteps by being able to provide a strong and reliable admin team to support head office in Edmonton and APEGGA Council. And I’m looking forward to meeting professional members and assisting them with their events.”

Born in the U.K., the Pitman-trained Ms. Handford has 20 years of experience in senior administrative assistance, six years of which has been in Calgary. She has divided her time in Canada as an office administrator at EBA Engineering and as an administrative manager at RPS Energy.

“Marie was a familiar and reliable face at the Calgary office for many years, and we were certainly sad to see her go,” said Executive Director & Registrar Neil Windsor, P.Eng. “Marie provided very capable management of the Calgary office and served the needs of Council, staff and volunteers alike in an exemplary manner. Always cheerful and willing to do whatever was required, she made working in the Calgary office a pleasurable experience.

“Kate has big shoes to fill, there’s no doubt, but we’re confident she can do it.”

Ms. Locke and her husband, Errol, have moved to Lethbridge.
